Consumer rights will be strengthened with the allocation of an extra €15m to investigate cartels and breaches of competition rules, it was claimed today.

Spending on Consumer Affairs will jump 76% to €7.2m, the interim board of the new National Consumer Agency will get €3m in new funding and the Competition Authority’s finances rise 15% to €5.8m.
