Virgin Mobile confident of market beating performance

Virgin Mobile bucked the gloom elsewhere in the telecoms sector today when it posted better-than-expected results and said it would hit full year targets.

The group said operating profits rose by 27% in its first half to £45.5m (€67m) after it increased its customer numbers by 15% to 4.2 million and moved into the contract market.
