Authorities give consent for 54,000 new homes

Authorities cleared the way for over 54,000 new houses and apartments to be built across the country in the first half of the year, it emerged today.

New figures from the Central Statistics Office revealed planning permissions were granted for 40,851 new houses and 13,317 apartments during the first six months of 2005.
