Food safety improving in restaurants
A new study has shown that eating out in Ireland is safer than ever.
The study, conducted by Safefood and the Food Safety Authority, examined over two hundred restaurants around the country and found that food handling practises here are generally good.
This was run in conjunction with a second study of food safety practises in the home, which found that families have become more aware of safety and hygiene issues when cooking and storing food.
The results of these studies are reflected in the decline of food poisoning cases reported to the Food Safety Authority in the last year.
"There is good practise in place and a continuous decline in the reported number food poisoning cases in Ireland on an annual basis," says Thomas Quigley of Safefood.
