The Government's decision to exempt biofuels from excise duty will reduce the country’s dependence on imported fuels, it was claimed tonight.

Biofuels are made from crops such as wheat, rapeseed and sugar beet and have significantly less carbon dioxide emissions than oil-based fuels like petrol or diesel.
