The UK economy is growing at its slowest rate for more than a decade as consumer confidence ebbs and spending slows, official data showed today.

The UK economy is growing at its slowest rate for more than a decade as consumer confidence ebbs and spending slows, official data showed today.

Provisional figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) pointed to GDP growth of only 0.4% between April and June, meaning the economy grew 1.7% on a year earlier.
