Bank of Ireland seals ATM deal with UK post office network
Bank of Ireland is to provide more than 1,000 automated teller machines (ATMs) across the UK post office branch network, the bank announced today.
Bank of Ireland has doubled its own ATM network in the last three years and already has an ATM presence in the UK.
Roll-out of the 1,000 new ATMs will start this autumn, with more than 300 machines to be installed at post office branches currently not offering any ATM service. A further 700 will replace ATMs owned by other banking providers. The new ATMs will allow customers of all banks and building societies to access their cash at 1,000 branches.
Bank of Ireland and the UK post office network already work together through their financial services partnership launched in January 2004. The joint venture - across a range of services including car and home insurance, personal loans and savings products - has 100,000 customers and targets 400,000 by March 31 next year.
Bank of Ireland boss Brian Goggin said: “Our partnership is already presenting exciting growth opportunities for Bank of Ireland and this new agreement augments the existing financial services we provide. We look forward to consolidating our joint efforts further.”
