Production down 5.8%

The seasonally-adjusted volume of industrial production for manufacturing industries for the three-month period February to April 2005 was down 5.8% on the preceding three-month period, the Central Statistics Office said today.

The seasonally-adjusted volume of industrial production for manufacturing industries for the three-month period February to April 2005 was down 5.8% on the preceding three-month period, the Central Statistics Office said today.

On an annual basis production for all industries in April 2005 was 6.4% lower than in April 2004. The "modern sector", comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual decrease in production for April 2005 of 8%, while a decrease of 3.2% was recorded in the "traditional" sector.
