The Irish Farmers Association has joined forces with the meat industry to oppose moves to introduce more free trade in the area of agriculture.
The IFA and IBEC's Meat Industry Ireland group claimed the World Trade Organisation was trying to open European markets to uncontrolled beef imports from areas like South America.
