The housing market in Ireland is defying all its detractors by continuing to boom despite predictions of doom according to estate agents Sherry FitzGerald.

"All indications suggest that despite the strength of construction activity in 2004 this year will be another very buoyant year for the Irish property market," said Marian Finnegan, chief economist, Sherry FitzGerald Group.
