FTSE falls to two-month low

The FTSE 100 Index fell to its lowest level for two months today as fresh evidence of a slowdown in consumer spending added to investors’ worries.

The Footsie was stuck around the 4900 barrier at lunchtime – off 19.6 points at 4899.4.
