FTSE set for fourth day of gains

The London market was on course for a fourth consecutive session of gains today despite signs its recent rally was running out of steam.

A buoyant overnight session on Wall Street proved the catalyst for a rise of 3.7 points on the FTSE 100 Index to 4781.1 by mid-morning.
