Limerick event highlights need for computer recycling

A new recycling programme is being launched in Limerick today as computer giant Dell attempts to highlight the lack of computer recycling awareness amongst the general public by hosting a Free Computer recycling event.

The one-day event offers people the chance to drop off old computer equipment for free, which will then be recycled.

Minister for the Environment Dick Roche says the event is a huge success. “It’s quite marvellous. I’ve been talking of doing something similar in Bray. It is a problem - what do you do with your old computer, particularly one that is obsolete?

“The idea is that you shouldn’t put it into a dump – you should recycle it.”
