ISEQ down, on back of FTSE and Elan
The ISEQ followed the FTSE in closing slightly down, dropping 17.24 points to close at 5686.73.
An Elan subsidiary received seven patents for Alzheimers treatments in the US, but the company’s shares took a dive, losing 60c (3%) to €19.22.
Eircom was busy today, closing up 3c (2%) at €1.50.
It was a mixed day for the financials, with Irish Life & Permanent dropping 17c, or 1.3%, to end the day at €12.75. Anglo dropped 15c to €15, on the day that the bank announced the appointment of David Drumm as chief executive Sean Fitzpatrick’s replacement.
AIB was the day’s busiest share, closing up 9c at €13.55. Bank of Ireland was also up, gaining 4c to €11.38. BoI’s chief economist today predicted a Eurozone rate rise.
Building materials group CRH closed down 1c at €19.80.
