CSO: Transport of goods up 13%
Almost 260 million tonnes of goods were transported on Irish roads last year.
It's an increase of 13% on 2002 and a 221% increase in the last 10 years.
Minerals and building materials are the most common goods carried by road.
Foodstuffs, machinery, agricultural products and live animals also feature in the figures, released by the Central Statistics Office today.
