The ISEQ index of shares made a bright start to the day, gaining 14.39 points to stand at 5,594.90 at 11am.
The financials led the early surge, posting significant gains amid heavy trading. AIB was up 5c to €13.35, Anglo Irish added 8c to its share price to €14.75, while Bank of Ireland was up 15c to €11.40.
