AA deal to be completed in three months
Centrica have said today the sale of the AA should be completed within three months.
This follows the decision of energy group Centrica to sell the motoring organisation to a private equity consortium for £1.75bn (€2.62bn).
The new owners have pledged to run the AA as an independent company and invest in its roadside services, while maintaining its public policy role as a champion for motorists.
In the Republic of Ireland, AA Ireland is the leading roadside assistance provider and largest independent personal insurance provider.
AA Ireland has around 290,000 Irish members, and employs 300 people.
Centrica said the decision to sell the AA reflected the limited opportunity for the motoring organisation to expand to new markets.
