The Government’s economic think tank has criticised the inclusion of another round of benchmarking awards in the new national pay deal.

The Economic and Social Research Institute said it was perplexed that the awards had been included in the deal as a recent study had shown that public servants were being paid 13% more than private sector workers before the first benchmarking awards.
