A “greedy” obsession with increasing profits is to blame for the deterioration of ethics in Irish banking, it was claimed today.

The Irish Bank Officials Association (IBOA) warned that the prevailing “top-down” culture of profit before everything has cost the industry hugely in customer confidence.
