US rate rise feared as inflation up 0.6% in May

Higher fuel prices pushed the US consumer price index (CPI) up 0.6% in May, as petrol prices rose 8.1% in the month.

Petrol prices are now up 30% in the last year with US inflation rising at its fastest rate in three years, according to the Labour Department.
