US banking group Citigroup said today that its first quarter profit jumped 29% to $5.27bn (€4.42bn), boosted by strong investment banking business and growth in consumer lending.

US banking group Citigroup said today that its first quarter profit jumped 29% to $5.27bn (€4.42bn), boosted by strong investment banking business and growth in consumer lending.

The financial giant's revenues jumped 16% to $21.5bn (€18.06bn) in the period compared to the same quarter last year.
