RBS profits make FTSE soar

Record annual profits from the Royal Bank of Scotland helped get the London market off to a flying start today.

RBS posted a rise of 11% to £7.15bn (€10.6bn) during the year to December 31– the tenth consecutive year of double-digit growth.
