Irish small to medium-sized enterprises have been a victim rather than a beneficiary of Ireland's economic growth, according to a leading economist.

Jim Power, chief economist with Friends First, said the Celtic Tiger era has led to a serious rise in costs that SMEs are unable to absorb as well as larger companies with pricing power.
