Safeway reports Q3 decline in sales

UK Supermarket group Safeway said like-for-like sales, on a net basis, fell 4.1% in the 12 weeks to January 3, compared with a reduction of 2.5% in the first half.

On a gross sales basis, like-for-like sales fell 0.8% in the third quarter, compared with growth of 0.1% in the first half.
