British mutual insurer Standard Life is to make an announcement setting out the group's solvency position tomorrow, following week long talks with the Financial Services Authority over the interpretation of new accounting measures.

Edinburgh based Standard Life suspended dealings in an estimated £1bn (€1.4bn) worth of its bonds ahead of tomorrow's statement and after it detected "unusual trading".
