House prices slow inflation in UK

Slower house price growth was behind a 0.2% fall in the UK's headline rate of inflation to 2.6% this month, official figures showed today.

Less rapid growth in house prices this year compared with a year ago was the main reason for the fall, the Office for National Statistics said.
