Wall Street down after terrorist attacks
US stocks fell to a three-week low this morning following terrorist attacks at the weekend.
The Dow Jones was down 80 points, or 0.8 %, to 9,688 while the NASDAQ Composite Index fell 25 points to 1,905. The S&P 500 shed 10 points, or 1 %, to 1,040.
NASDAQ's Microsoft, was down 1.5 % to a five-month low of $25.12 and Toys-R-Us fell by 5.65% after announcing quarterly earnings that fell short of Wall Street's expectations by 9%.
An unexpected improvement in business conditions of manufacturers in the New York region failed to boost investors confidence.
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York said the Empire State Index rose to a record 41.0 in November compared to Wall Street economists' forecasts for the index to slip to 31.2.
