Brown hopes to solve Euro-US trade dispute
A move towards ending trade barriers between Europe and the United States was being announced by British Chancellor Gordon Brown this week.
US Treasury Secretary John Snow is accompanying President George Bush on his state visit to Britain this week.
Officials hope Mr Brown will be able to intervene with Mr Snow in the current row over US tariffs on steel from the U, which threatens to escalate.
Mr Bush is widely expected to announce a deal on the issue during his visit that will avoid the threatened trade war with the EU.
