Figures from the Bank of Ireland Job Index, which measures the number of jobs advertised in the national newspapers, shows that demand for workers in the private sector is improving.

The index indicated that ads for manufacturing jobs rose 43% in October from a year earlier, while construction was up 14%, professionals were up 26%, leisure 8% and the retail sector remained the same. IT and financial services continue to show a decline, down 23% and 43%, respectively, on last year.
