Employment outlook 'dire': SFA

The employment outlook for the remainder of 2003 and 2004 is 'dire' according to a mid-year statement on jobs compiled by the Small Firms Association.

The business lobby group claimed that a job is being lost every 20 minutes and that nearly 500 jobs have been lost every week since the turn of the year.
