Prodi urges Blair to show courage on euro

European Commission President Romano Prodi today urged British Prime Minister Tony Blair to demonstrate the political courage necessary to bring Britain into the eurozone.

Despite the British government’s insistence that its recent decision that Britain is not yet ready for euro membership was based on an economic analysis, Mr Prodi said it was in fact “a signal of deep political problems”, not just within the British government but UK as a whole.
