Off-licenses object to labelling proposals

The National Off-License Association has objected to proposals to label all alcoholic products with the name of the premises where they are sold.

The proposal is part of Justice Minister Michael McDowell's crackdown on underage drinking.

Mr McDowell said the move would enable authorities to identify off-licenses selling alcohol to minors, but the National Off-License Association said most underage drinkers either get their alcohol in the home or get somebody over the legal age limit to buy it for them.
