The employers' body IBEC has criticised the Government's failure to reduce Ireland's inflation rate, which is currently running at 4.9%, more than twice the EU average.

Speaking in Dublin, IBEC president Maurice Pratt said the continued high rate of inflation is threatening Ireland's economy.
