Shares slide as war looms

London's leading shares are back in negative territory as investors on both sides of the Atlantic braced themselves for war.

After a 350 point rally at the end of last week, dealers had been hoping to see gains extended into the morning session but instead the blue-chip FTSE 100 Index was down 68.6 points at 3533.2 in the first hour of trading.
