Investors reeling after seeing the FTSE 100 Index slump to its lowest point in more than seven years have been hit by further losses.

The blue-chip index is 22.1 points lower at 3413.9 after the Dow Jones Industrial Average and tech-laden Nasdaq shed 2% last night.
