Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy has said that a US/British war against Iraq would have adverse effects on the Irish economy due to its openness and vulnerability.

Speaking at an EU summit in Brussels, Mr McCreevy said a drawn out war in the Persian Gulf could lead to an increase in the price of oil, which could force foreign companies to pull out of Ireland in favour of cheaper locations.
