Hong Kong shares close high

Share prices closed higher, but off intraday highs, as solid gains in HSBC and oil stocks were limited by weakness in several major telecommunications and select property stocks, dealers said.

Momentum slowed in the afternoon session amid some scepticism over the sustainability of gains seen in US and European markets overnight, they said.
