EC lowers eurozone growth forecast
The European Commission today lowered its economic growth forecast for 2003 to 1.8% – down from 2.9% – in the 12 nation euro zone, citing a much slower than anticipated recovery.
In its autumn forecast, the EC estimated growth in the euro area to remain at 0.8% for the rest of 2002 adding it would pick up only slightly going into 2003.
