Despite many global markets experiencing losses yesterday, the Irish ISEQ index rose almost two per cent largely on the back of strong trade by Bank of Ireland, due to rumours of a tie-up with National Australia Bank.

Despite many global markets experiencing losses yesterday, the Irish ISEQ index rose almost two per cent largely on the back of strong trade by Bank of Ireland, due to rumours of a tie-up with National Australia Bank.

In European markets this morning, there is little surprise to see markets low on early trade with asbestos claims continuing to dog stocks in the construction and basic materials sectors.
