Intel Q3 earnings lower than expected

Intel posted earnings of $686m or 10 cents per share, below consensus estimates of 13 cents a share.

However, though below estimates the earnings, were up on Q3 2001 when they had been $106m, or 2 cents a share. Revenue year on year remained about the same at $6.5bn this year compared to $6.55bn last year.
