August worldwide chip sales higher

Worldwide semiconductor sales grew 2.2pc in August compared with July to $11.93bn, the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) group said today, sending a signal the chip sector is holding up.

The WSTS group, which is the official semiconductor companies' organisation, said month-on-month growth was slightly slower than in July when sales grew 2.8pc on June.
