Footsie rises as bargain-hunters move in

The FTSE 100 Index is up 69.5 at 3965 at mid-morning as bargain-hunters pick up shares.

This means the index has pulled back a third of yesterday's 202-point loss, although it was up 98 points in earlier trading.
