British Airways passenger numbers down 8.4%

British Airways carried 8.4% fewer passengers last month than in May 2001, figures from the airline today showed.

During the month it carried 3.1 million passengers, 289,000 less than the same month time last year, after reducing capacity in reaction to the slump in air demand following September 11.
