The Microsoft corporation has announced plans to recruit an additional 100 workers in Ireland over the next year to support the growing needs of its Irish operations.

The Microsoft corporation has announced plans to recruit an additional 100 workers in Ireland over the next year to support the growing needs of its Irish operations.

The US company also hired 100 Irish people last year, bringing its workforce to 1,800.

Speaking at the official opening of Microsoft’s new Atrium building in Co Dublin, the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, said the company is now the single biggest employer in the Irish software sector.

He said it contributes €350m to the Irish economy each year and account’s for 6% of Irish exports.
