Nokia downgraded its forecast for sales in 2002 and reported first quarter profits of €915m, down 12.5% from the first quarter of 2001.

It reduced its forecast for global handset sales to 400-420 million from 420-440 million, and reduced its own sales growth estimations from 4% to 9%, down from the 15% it predicted in January.
