Telecommunications firms who breach the terms of their licences could soon face fines of up to €4m as part of the Communications Regulation Bill, which is currently before the Dáil.

Under the Bill, the maximum fine for breach of licence would be raised from €1,900 to €4m or 10% of the company’s turnover - whichever is greatest.
