IONA alliances with SGI and IBM

IONA has announced a strategic alliance with SGI, which specialises in advanced visualisation, high-performance computing and data management.

The alliance will ease a customer's incorporation of both vendors' offerings into its overall enterprise-computing environment.

SGI provides advanced visualisation and computing systems from desktop workstations to the largest supercomputers. These are aimed at solving creative and technical professionals computing needs in the energy, manufacturing, media, sciences and government and defence markets.

Under the terms of the alliance, IONA is providing optimised integration between Orbix E2A and SGI systems.

IONA has recently also agreed to work with IBM in a newly created Interoperability Lab where the companies will optimise the integration and performance of their Java 2, Enterprise Edition [J2EE], CORBA [R] and mainframe technologies for joint customers worldwide.

IONA and IBM through this initiative, will offer joint customers benefits such as optimised implementation, integration roadmaps, and performance advantages which use a combination of the companies' J2EE, CORBA and mainframe technologies.
