The Central Bank today forecast a recovery in both the Irish and international economies and said the recent global downturn had proved to be among the shortest on record.

The Central Bank today forecast a recovery in both the Irish and international economies and said the recent global downturn had proved to be among the shortest on record.

In its Spring bulletin, the bank said the emerging upturn was expected to be ‘‘quite gradual,’’ but activity was likely to increase later this year.
