Sun maintains leadership in UNIX reveue

According to IDC's World Server Statistics, one of out three UNIX servers shipped worldwide was a SunServer. For the year 2001, its UNIX revenue was US $6.9 bn (€11.1) bn with Hewlett Packard taking second place and IBM third place.

According to IDC, the Sun Fire server family grew sequentially by 90% in Q4 2001 compared to Q3 2001. For Q4 2001 more than 50% of Sun's server revenues were generated from Sun's UltraSPARC III-based Sun Fire systems.
