Irish mobile penetration reaches 79%

The ODTR has released its quarterly review for October 1 to December 31 2001, finding that mobile penetration rate has reached 79% and 1.5 billion SMS messages were sent in 2001.

The ODTR has released its quarterly review for October 1 to December 31 2001, finding that mobile penetration rate has reached 79% and 1.5 billion SMS messages were sent in 2001.

Ireland now has 2.9 million mobile subscribers, which puts the penetration rate at 79%, up 4% since the last quarter and 12% from the previous year.
